For all my firefighter friends - THINK!! What will happen to this house when the fire is out? They will scrape it away. WHY? Why would we risk so much - a person's life - for a house that will get scraped away? This guy is really burnt - over 40% of his body with 3rd degree burns. I hope he recovers.

We Love Hummus!
If you do too, there is a receipe at the end of this post. I will give you a teaser picture, some pictures from our New York trip, then the dip!
Hummus
Cook 1 1/2c dried chick peas after soaking overnight
In Cuisanart, mince 6garlic cloves
2 t cumin
1/2 t cayenne
1/2 t salt
Then add 1/2 c roasted red peppers, zip
Then add 2 c cooked chick peas
1/2 c tahini
Juice of one lemon
1/2 c good virgin Olive oil
Zip until creamy adding more oil if needed

With Great Sadness
Friends: It is with great sadness that I share the sad news that Michael's dad, Earl, passed away this afternoon. Earl was a great husband to his wife, Janet, and a wonderful father for his boys; Michael, Scott, and Steven. Many called him Friend. He had a way to make us in-laws feel very loved and a part of the family. Michael has told me so many stories of his dad taking them hunting and teaching them about the outdoors. Earl was a great dad for his boys. I suppose one is never prepared to lose a loved one and today's news is no exception. Our hearts are sad and we wish we could be there to hold each other and cry together.

A New Week Ahead!
Michael is off to PT. He seems to be slowly, every so slowly, improving. Standing is still very painful. Yesterday was a really lousy day with significant rain fall to make our driveway an ice skating rink after the 26 degree morning temperature. Thankfully, we have a neighbor with a sand truck and the ability to throw down some sand. Last night's amazing dinner was followed by Mahler's 5 and the remaining Jordan Chardonnay wine. Good food, good wine, good music!! The following pictures are from a lovely old wagon discovered parked next to the Hoback Market. It's been there for years - I just never "saw" it! Have a great week!
