Hay Bales

When Mike and I mused on what our retirement place "looked like", we determined we needed a place that would keep us busy.

Hah!  We did well.  The hay crop is abundant, thick, and is making beautiful hay bales.  The old equipment's ability to operate proved challenging.  Mike made some custom retro-fits and things worked better.  Many bales of hay were re-baled after getting destroyed by the old equipment.  The money from the hay we sell is destined to go toward new equipment, I'm guessing!

Here is the view looking forward as one bales hay (notice, this is the blue tractor - the one that had so many issues this spring.  Although it is still leaking a bit, it is running well; geez, knock on wood!!).

This is the view looking back.  The baler, the actual thing that scrunches the hay into bales, is what you are looking at.  Behind it rolls the accumulator.  That has been the problem child this year, oh yeah - and last!

And a view out the hanger door.  It's summer.  Blue skies and dry temperatures have been in our favor.  The weather has been an important part of this year's successful hay crop, despite the numerous equipment issues.

Best news of all - everyone wants hay this year!  Hopefully, Mike hasn't sold more that we have!!
